Support
One developer, one inbox. You will get a reply from a person.
Email ericrosenbaum77@gmail.com and you will normally hear back within two working days. It helps to say which iPhone or iPad you have, which version of iOS it is running, and roughly where you were standing, since almost everything in the app depends on your latitude.
Bug reports and feature requests
Both are genuinely welcome, and the same address takes them. If you think a position or a pass time is wrong, that is the most useful report of all: send the object, the date and time, your location, and what the app said. Everything is computed on your device, so that is enough to reproduce it exactly.
Things that come up often
The sky on screen is rotated from the real sky
That is the compass, not the astronomy. Phone magnetometers drift, especially near cars, speakers, magnetic cases and steel-framed buildings. In the sky view, point at something bright that you can identify, tap it, and confirm what it is: the correction is worked out and remembered, including the next time you open the app.
It says my location cannot be found
Check that Location Services are on for Sky Clock in Settings. If you would rather not share your location at all, you do not have to: tap the location chip at the top of the Right Now screen and type a place in by hand. Everything works the same way from a typed place.
There is no cloud forecast
The forecast comes from Apple Weather, so it needs a connection at least once to fetch, and it is not available everywhere in the world. Everything else in the app — the sky view, the star chart, planet positions, pass predictions — is computed on your device and works with no signal at all.
I paid for Plus but it is locked
Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore purchases, making sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with. If it still will not unlock, email me and I will help.
How do I cancel Plus?
On your device, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Sky Clock Plus, then Cancel Subscription. Plus stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and the free half of the app keeps working forever. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my data?
There is nothing held about you on any server of ours to delete. Your observation log lives on your device and in your own private iCloud database: delete entries inside the app, or delete the app and remove its iCloud data from Settings, and it is gone. See the Privacy Policy.
Why does it not show fainter stars?
By design. Sky Clock only draws stars you could actually pick out from where you are, given the light pollution you told it about and tonight's Moon. If you want to see more, tell it you are at a darker site in Settings, or go to one.
Accessibility
Sky Clock supports Dynamic Type and VoiceOver, and directions are read as words such as "southeast" rather than as symbols. If something is hard to use with the accessibility settings you rely on, please tell me. Those reports go to the top of the list.
